Why Catholic?

Cross of Holy Father Benedict

The motto of the Order of St. Benedict is Ut In Omnibus Glorificetur Deus- That in all things God may be glorified. As a Catholic school in the Benedictine tradition, this is our motto as well. How does Benedictine College Preparatory glorify God? We glorify God by placing him at the center of all we are and do. Just as Christ was the center of St. Benedict's life, so too he must be at the center of ours. At Benedictine, education is Christocentric. The truths of all disciplines ultimately have their source and being in Christ, who is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). Each subject, in turn, becomes illumined by faith. In this way, there is an integration of knowledge which produces a Christian worldview.

A genuine Catholic education is always formation - a holistic formation of mind, body, and soul which prepares and leads man to his last end, God. Man was created by God and for God. At Benedictine, we form young men with Heaven as the eternal goal.

In AD 1742, it was Pope Benedict XIV who said, "There is nothing more effective than religious education to spread the glory of God and to secure the salvation of souls." Today, Benedictine College Preparatory continues to glorify God and mold young men into soldiers of Christ. In the world, these men will be ready to fulfill St. Peter's command: "always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15).
