The American College Test (ACT) is a test to assess a student’s general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. It is more of an achievement test than an aptitude test. The ACT is divided into five skill level areas:
- English
- Mathematics
- Reading
- Science
- Writing (Optional)
An optional writing test has been added and students are encouraged to take this section as well. The ACT bulletin, PREPARING FOR THE ACT, and paper copies of the registration form, are available in the Guidance Office. Online registration is also available at www.actstudent.org. This web site provides both students and parents with valuable testing information, test tips, and sample questions. When registering for the ACT, students should put in the Benedictine High School Code Number – 471-840 – so that a copy of the test results may be placed in the student’s permanent record file.
