Josh Owens
Josh Owens returned to his alma mater in 2006 as the head junior varsity coach at Benedictine and has served as the Cadets varsity pitching coach in 2008 and 2009. After a year away, Owens returns as pitching coach for 2011. Owens helped lead the Cadets to their first VIS State Championship in 2000 as a pitcher and outfielder and was named First Team All-Metro by The Richmond Times-Dispatch after his senior year. A lefty pitcher, Owens ranks sixth in the Virginia Military Institute record books in career victories and set a freshman record for wins. He also ranks fourth in appearances. In a game against 20th-ranked Coastal Carolina, Owens tossed eight innings of shutout ball. Another highlight was hurling six innings in a win over Virginia Tech – the Keydets’ first win over the Hokies in more than 15 years. An arm injury forced Owens to a setup role, yet he still managed to start his senior season with 14 scoreless innings against ranked opponents. A native of Richmond, Owens currently is employed by Hanover Insurance. Josh and his wife Amber and son Drew reside in Louisa.
