Matt Armentrout, Tim Joyce, Joseph Lantagne, and Sam Quinan. Our team placed third out of twelve teams at the Academic World Quest on 11/29. This local competition was organized by the Richmond World Affairs Council and was held at the Jefferson Hotel. The format was different than the usual brain-bowl type competition. Each team collaborated to answer three rounds of multiple choice questions for a total of 70 questions. All of the questions were drawn from current events or from a very extensive online study guide. To our delight our guys were separated from first place by only six questions.
Also congrats to the JROTC Academic Bowl Team: Bradley Bittmann, Ryan LaMura, David Gallagher II, Kevin Dabson, and Noah Chetelat. The Team made it through round one and will compete in round two in February. Over 1500 schools participated and the field was narrowed by over 50%. Our boys competed via computer and were given multiple choice questions on topics ranging from math/science/reading/composition/vocabulary/JROTC and current events. If they perform well in the February competition they will get to compete in the nationals in Washington, DC in June.
