Strategic Planning - Response Needed by Feb. 14th
Benedictine Community,
We are actively engaged in our five-year strategic planning process. A strategic planning committee of sixteen members including current parents, faculty, alumni, monks, trustees, foundation directors and administration members has been meeting on a monthly basis since November to prepare our future vision. However, to ensure the best outcome, we need the input of our community. The opinions of our past and present parents, alumni, faculty, etc. are of vital importance to assess the current state of Benedictine and to develop prioritized goals for the next five years. Please take the time to click the link below and thoughtfully answer the short survey in an honest and forward thinking way.
Thank you for your time. Should you have any questions regarding the survey, contact Mr. Bill Doran, Academic Dean, at 804-342-1352.
Semper Fidelis and God bless,
Jesse Grapes
Cadets Perform for Governor & "School Choice" Legislation
Yesterday, our Cadets performed at a "school choice" rally at the State Capitol. Governor Bob McDonnell, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, Delegate Jimmie Massie and Senator Mark Obenshain spoke to a large crowd on the Capitol Lawn about school choice legislation currently before the Senate of Virginia.Senate Bill 241would establish income tax credits for businesses who donate to scholarship foundations. These foundations would, in turn, provide financial assistance to families of limited economic means who desire to send their children to nonpublic schools. If passed,Senate Bill 241would ensure that Catholic schools, like Benedictine and our diocesan feeder schools, are affordable for more children.
Benedictine College Preparatory is in the district of Senator John Watkins, who serves on the Senate Finance Committee. To encourage him to support this bill, please call (804) 698-7510 or e-maildistrict10@senate.virginia.govas soon as possible and convey the following message or a personalized one:

“Please vote in favor ofSB 241when it comes before the Senate Finance Committee. This bill would help make nonpublic schools – such as Benedictine College Preparatory which (I attended/my child attends) – more affordable for more families. Thank you for considering my request.”
Cadets from our Honor Platoon served as color guard for the event. Additionally, Cadets from our Bagpipe and Drum Corps provided the introductory and closing music. You can watch their performance of "Amazing Grace" on the Capitol Lawn by clicking the photo below:
