Historic Championship Weekend for BCP
2-18, Our Cadets participated in the VISAA State Wrestling Tournament and the Virginia Independent High School State Swimming Championships. These two tournaments saw historical best performances from both Cadet teams, and two state champions: Travis Kerner and Michael Logan.

Championship Match
At the VISAA State Wrestling Tournament, Benedictine joined 32 schools from throughout Virginia. The Cadet team finished 9th place overall, capping the most successful wrestling season in school history. Cadet Senior Michael Logan, cheered on by his classmates, achieved a school-first state championship title in the 160 lb weight class. Logan, along with Cadets John Mosier and Sam Toomey, qualified to represent Benedictine at the Prep Nationals this weekend at Lehigh University.

At the Virginia Independent High School State Swimming Championships this weekend, Benedictine joined 295 swimmers and 49 schools. The small four-man Benedictine team achieved its highest state ranking (#10) in school history, its highest tournament record of 108 points, and saw its first Cadet ever to win a state championship title: Travis Kerner in the 500 YD freestyle. Travis also won the consolation heat of the 100 YD Breaststroke for a 9th place finish overall.
For the first time in school history, BCP qualified and competed in the championship finals in a relay event.  They actually competed in two relays - finishing 7th in the state in the 400 YD Freestyle and 8th in the state in the 200 YD Medley.  Townley Haas qualified for the championship finals and finished 5th in the state in the 200 YD Freestyle.  Townley also won the consolation heat in the 100 YD Freestyle for a 9th place finish overall. Nick Haas qualified and scored in the consolation finals of both the 200 and 500 YD Freestyle events and finished 12th in the state in both events.  Sandy Wilson also qualified for the consolation heat of the 200 YD Individual Medley. The Benedictine Cadets had the highest average points per swimmer of all top 10 schools @ 27 ea.
