Academic Philosophy

Our spiritual, academic, military and athletic programs are all rooted in authentic Catholic tradition and permeated by a love for Jesus Christ. Our strong Catholic identity, coupled with a philosophy of education as formation of young men, is what makes us different from every other school.

Our academic program is one of the finest college preparatory courses of study available in the greater Richmond area. We provide our students with a challenging curriculum that includes a variety of Advanced Placement and honors-level courses, small class sizes, individualized instruction, taught by an experienced faculty who are specialized in their fields of study. Our graduates consistently earn top honors and gain admission into our country’s top Ivy League colleges and universities. Our graduates are recognized nationally for their academic, leadership and athletic achievements.

But far more than just academics, our program of study is infused with our Catholic faith which teaches our young men the masculine virtues of discipline, servant-leadership, hard work and community service. Our students are provided with opportunities to live out these virtues daily through extracurricular achievements in the areas of fine arts, interscholastic athletics, community service, drama and military drill.

We have a higher goal at Benedictine than just seeing our graduates achieve their best success in the next phase of their lives. We form young men in a Christ-centered life of faith, and provide them with the intellectual tools to defend their faith when they go forth to college and beyond. These young men will be our nation’s future husbands, fathers, priests, religious, politicians, lawyers, doctors and teachers. Guided by the Holy Spirit, they will lead a generation that continues to make our church, our community, and our nation great.
