Mark Royster

Benedictine College Preparatory announces that Mark Royster has officially assumed the future leadership of its varsity basketball program.

Coach Royster served as the lead assistant varsity basketball coach at Benedictine for the last 22 years. He is also an alumnus of Benedictine, where he played under legendary coach Warren Rutledge and graduated in the class of 1983.

As a player, Royster’s teams won the state Catholic championship during each of his four years of high school. He also served as an assistant under Coach Rutledge for five years.

As the lead assistant coach, Royster’s teams have won state Catholic championships in 1999 and 2000, as well as Virginia state independent school championships in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013.

Additionally, Coach Royster has run the Benedictine Youth League for the past 13 years.
