From School Administration

"MEET THE TEACHER" SEPTEMBER 24, 25, 26 FROM 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

  • "Meet the Teacher" will be held on September 24, 25, and 26 from 7:30 a.m.to 8:30 a.m.each morning in the Dining Hall.  "Meet the Teacher" is an opportunity for you to check in with some or all of your son's teachers.  There are no assigned time slots for parents, and you will have the freedom to meet with any of your son's teachers that you wish.  All of our teachers will be in the dining hall and available to meet with you individually to talk about your son's initial progress in class.  These meetings are intended to be brief check-ins; however if you discover that you will need a longer meeting with a teacher, he or she will be happy to schedule a meeting with you.  It is recommended that you arrive between 7:30-8:00 a.m.to give you plenty of time to see your son's teachers.  We will need to dismiss teachers to their classrooms promptly at 8:30 a.m.so that they can prepare for their "A" period class.

  • Parents are asked to come on a morning according to last name, but you may come on any day that you wish if your assigned day is not good for you:
    Monday, September 24                 A-G

    Tuesday, September 25                H-O

    Wednesday, September 26           P-Z

You can't spell "painful" without "AP."  Command Sergeant Major Charlie Garbett deals with a pop quiz bestowed upon him and the rest of his AP Biology classmates by Ms. Barker.

From the Office of Admission

Thursday, September 27 is our Open House.  The event shall kick off at 6 p.m. for prospective students and their families to tour the school and ask questions of faculty, students, parents and alumni.  To all who are helping us with this event, please accept our thanks, in advance.

If you know of any prospective students or families that have an interest in having their sons attend Benedictine, please pass the parental contact information to Greg Lilly: glilly@benedictinecollegeprep.org

Top Things You Need To Know About BCP Homecoming

1. The Tommy Collins Party, named in honor of Mr. Collins '71 (former teacher and coach at Benedictine), is a fun, casual party to kick off Homecoming weekend! Tommy Collins passed away in 1993, but Benedictine continues the tradition in his memory. On the Friday night prior to Homecoming, the party brings together parents, friends and alumni for food, beverages and music!

**Morrissey BBQ, Rappahannock Oysters, Loveland Beer Truck, LIVE music from Small Merritt** Tickets are sold online for $30 and at the door for $35. Sponsorship opportunities available, too! You must be 21 years or older to attend.

2. Each class, together with its corresponding SGHS class, will have a Homecoming tent with food for class members and their families. Please watch for an email or sign up genius coming from your Class Ambassadors, or sign up below.

See below to get your 2018 Homecoming tee shirt! All proceeds go to SGHS/BCP Athletics- this was a big hit last year, so you don't want to miss out. If you'd like to order a shirt, we need all orders by September 27.

 3. Alumni reunion tents are set up in the Alumni Reunion section. (You must be 21 years or older to enter the alumni area).

4. All tents (current classes and reunion) are set up on the visitor's side of the football field.

5. If you have family coming that would like to put up its own tent, there will be an area to the right side of the scoreboard that can be utilized. This is on a first-come basis.

6. The Cowley Classic, a game between the Benedictine varsity and Veritas, and will take place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

7. Homecoming football game kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.

8. Mass will be held in the church immediately after the football game.

9. The Homecoming dance (8:00-11:00p.m.) for the students, will be held at Saint Gertrude.

Get in on the Action!

On Saturday, October 6, Benedictine will rock with its homecoming game and festivities.

Each current class will have its own tent, which will serve as the focal point of that class's activities.

Of course, each class will need help in making this day happen.  Opportunities abound, and this is a great opportunity for parents to get to know one another while having scads of fun.

Call for volunteers:  Help our concession stand!

Dear Benedictine Family and Friends,

It's time to get ballin!  Concessions are up and running, and we need your help to keep them going!  We are asking parents who have sons who play in a sport to please volunteer for at least one game during your off-season.  Right now we are asking for volunteers during our home football games; basketball will follow.

We need friends who can help with grilling, who can work behind the stand and can help with clean up.  Please consider taking part and help the Athletic Department make some extra money! The link for the Sign up Genius is below.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Thank you for your support of our Cadets!

St. Benedict Oktoberfest - This Weekend

The St. Benedict Oktoberfest is September 21, 22, 23 at St. Benedict's in the Museum District. More than 30,000 guests are anticipated! Students can earn service hours by volunteering to help out with Children's Games, SetUp, or Food Concessions. Volunteers from Benedictine have been a HUGE help at this event for the past decade. We hope you will attend this event as proceeds support scholarship awards to BCP. Click here to sign up for the dates and times you will volunteer. A confirmation will be emailed to you. Questions? Contact Meghan Madel, Volunteer Co-Coordinator.

Costumed volunteers (boys and girls ages 12-17) are also needed .  Any one between the ages of 12 and 17 will do. The boys will wear lederhosen (leather shorts and checked shirt) and the girls dirndls (full skirted dresses with aprons).  Event organizers shall provide the costumes and expect the volunteers to work a couple of 3- to 4-hour shifts during Oktoberfest.  Costumed volunteers do not register on the volunteer web site. If interested, contact Katie Toomey at Toomeyland@aol.com or 804-218-1071 in order to have a costume made.

More information on the St. Benedict Oktoberfest can be found here.
