Information for the week of October 8

Happy Homecoming!  Beat Georgetown Prep (and Veritas)!

Benedictine brings brilliance to "Battle of  the Brains."  Members of our team strike a pose before entering the fray, which was filmed on Monday.  Front row members (D'Andre Tobias, Oliver Sibal, Bradford Dudley and Savion Washington) were backed up by Nathaniel Gleberman and Patrick White.  You can watch the actual contest (vs. Midlothian) on Saturday, Oct. 13, 10 a.m. on CBS-6.

The Week's Uniform Schedule

Allow us to direct you to THE authoritative spot for finding out about the week's uniforms: School calendar

TWAB shall no longer carry uniform info for the upcoming week.  The upside is that the school website calendar details the daily uniform through the month of September!

Here is a link to information on the components of each uniform: uniforms

From the Office of Admission

If you know of any prospective students or families that have an interest in having their sons attend Benedictine, please pass the parental contact information to Greg Lilly: glilly@benedictinecollegeprep.org

They're in Jeopardy!  Members of Ms. Verlander's chemistry classes participated in her own version of the popular quiz show, "Chemistry Jeopardy."  If participating, our "question" to the "answer" on the screen would have been, "May we please be excused?"

Faith-Based News

Attention Parents of Cadets, we would like to invite you to join us to pray with opportunities every day of the week after school!  Parents, students, and teachers are invited and welcomed to pray the rosary each day at the conclusion of afternoon formation, beginning at 3:40PM in the chapel.  Even those students who have team practices can join us and make their practices on time.

We will also be praying together on the First Friday of the month after the 7 a.m. Mass in the chapel.  Of course, please join us for Mass any day of the week at 7 a.m., as well!  Drop off your student early and come pray as a family!  A family that prays together stays together.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Lisa Yost at faithinactionlisa@gmail.com.  St Benedict, pray for us!

"In truth, let's beat Veritas."  Soccer players Henry Hunt (0) and Alejandro Hernandez seek to get the Cadets back to some winning ways when they square off against Veritas on Saturday, 10 a.m.  It's all part of the Homecoming extravaganza! (Photo by Savion Washington '19)

Call for volunteers:  Help stock the teachers' lounge!

Dear Benedictine Family and Friends,

Please consider donating a bit of your time toward a noble cause:  stocking the teachers' lounge with goodies.

The stocking takes place on the first Monday of each month. The point of contact is Tracey Dudley.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Thank you for your support of our Cadets (and their teachers)!

Smart guy meets dumbbell.  Senior Kam Lawrence, a standout in his journalism class, makes light work of a 70-pound dumbbell.  We're hoping the rugged defensive tackle will be able to use his strength in pushing around Georgetown Prep on Saturday.

CONGRATULATIONS TO:  ANDREW BEYER, who won the JPL Bluetooth Clip Speaker in our most recent drawing!

The Sophomores are leading the pack with the most tickets sold, followed closely by the Freshman.

We will be raffling off a JPL Pulse 3 Speaker on Monday, Oct. 15 for those who turn in their SOLD tickets by Friday, Oct. 12.

     Happy Selling!

Senior staff officers show respect during the Flag Lowering Ceremony that honors alumni we have lost recently.  A Mass immediately followed the event.

Guidance News and Information

Juniors and Junior Parents - College Information Session Wednesday, October 17, 7 p.m.

Please mark Wednesday, October 17, on your calendar for a College Information Session in the second-floor lecture hall at 7 p.m.  Mrs. Metcalfe will review college planning pointers and answer questions about standardized testing, college funding, college visits, internships and extracurricular experiences.  This session is intended as a roadmap for navigating issues and questions likely to arise junior year, with an eye toward how to best position students for success in their senior year. Juniors and their parents are encouraged to attend.

 Upcoming College Visits for Students

FAFSA/Financial Aid

All students and parents planning to apply for financial aid through the FAFSA website should plan to do so as soon as possible.  The website opened for business on October 1.  The earlier an application is completed, the better the chances that funds will be available to qualified applicants.

"Standing tall and looking good...We ought to be in Hollywood!" Cadets march their way to the Flag Lowering Ceremony.  They'll also be on the move as part of Homecoming on Saturday.
