On December 12 at 7 p.m. the Benedictine choir will be putting on Lessons and Carols.
The “lessons” are from scripture readings found in the Bible that are read to the attendees and meant to instill a lesson. The caroling is meant to add joy and fun to the Christmas season.
"It was a jolly time," stated Christian Dunn '20 when asked about the event. "The singing was well-done and orchestrated well by Mr. Doran and his wife."
Lessons and Carols is important to the development of Cadets. "I think it is important because it covers three important parts of becoming a man," Benedictine librarian Mr. Williamson stated. "First because it has Christ, secondly appreciation of the arts and culture, and thirdly it builds comraderie."
"I have," stated Hunter Cheely '22. "full confidence in the school choir that they will sound great."
The choir is led by Mr. Doran '92 and Battalion Commander John Colizzi '20. Mr. Doran has been leading this event for many years with the help of Mrs. Doran. The precedent that the choir has set is excellence, and this year's choir is expected to live up to that. The choir has been practicing for many months at Mr. Doran's house on Sundays, and this week they are practicing during the event periods.
The event will be completed in an hour or so on this Thursday and, afterward, there will be refreshments in the dining hall provided by the school.
