Benedictine has released its 2020-2021 football schedule, and the Cadets are very fired up for the upcoming football season. The season opens up with a scrimmage on August 20, against Thomas Jefferson High School. The first official game takes place at Huguenot High School against one of Benedictine's biggest rivals, Trinity.
The Cadets are extremely excited for the season opener. “The Trinity game is going to be very hype,” Benedictine running back Henry Dolan added. “There's going to be a great crowd.”
The Cadets won the state championship game last season and have even higher hopes for this season. "I think that we have enough talent and a good enough team to win another state championship," added Benedictine defense end Evan Kerzanet. "Even go undefeated this year."
Benedictine plays other rivals, such as Collegiate, throughout the season but is missing out on a regular season game vs. Saint Christophers. Saint Chris and Benedictine seldom face off during the regular season and usually save their talents for the playoffs. The other games throughout the season consist of Woodberry Forest on September 11, Fork Union Military Academy on September 25, Lee-Davis High School on October 2, Georgetown Prep on October 9, Collegiate on October 16, King William on October 23, Catholic High School on October 31, which is Benedictine's Homecoming, and to finish off the season The Cadets play John Paul the Great on November 6.
The Cadets on the football team are very excited and expect to do very well this season. "Well, all in all I hope we play this season with all that's going on, there's some fun friday night games and I think it's going to be a very fun schedule" stated Dolan. "I think we can run the table and go undefeated. We've got a lot of great players coming back next year. "
Evan Kerzanet and Henry Dolan's final statements truly shows how they expect to play this season as a team, "Undefeated."
