Last Friday, Benedictine College Preparatory hosted its annual field day with Saint Gertrude High School. All of the Cadets were looking forward to the event, and not just because they got an entire day off with no classes.
As the day opened with a prayer service, run by Mr. Doran and his choir, all of the Cadets and Gators congregated in the auditorium at the Abbey.
Joseph Clarke, one of the choir members said, "I thought the prayer service was very nice, minus the interference the microphones were creating over the speakers." Afterwards, the congregation was moved outside, where all of the students took part in wiffle-ball, kickball, ultimate frisbee and other various activities. The sophomores were also selling warm Krispy Kreme donuts to all of the students to raise money for their class. The sophomore class reigned victorious in tug-of-war, going undefeated against the seniors, juniors, and freshman.
After everyone was worn out from their field day activities, Chef Alanprovided lunch for all of the students and staff. Chef served hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, pizza and salad.
While not everyone participated in the games, everyone had the chance to socialize with friends and even family that attends their sister or brother school.
Friday, the 13th was quite an eventful day, beginning with field day, then moving to a football win over Fork Union Military Academy and then arriving at the Freshman Hop that night.
