The Benedictine varsity football Cadets' record fell to 4-2 following a 27-13 loss to Georgetown Prep.
The Little Hoyas hosted the Cadets on October 4. Despite the defeat, Sophomore center Joe Covington stated, “This loss won’t have any negative affect on our season.”
Georgetown Prep's strong second half proved to be the difference, after Benedictine failed to score again, following a 13-point second quarter. The Lil Hoyas were led by Head Coach Dan Paro and quarterback Will Angrick, who opened up the game with a 40-yard rushing touchdown. Georgetown Prep followed up Angrick's score with a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Following halftime it was all Lil' Hoyas, scoring 13 unanswered points. When asked about the team's performance, senior Brian Daughtry stated, "Even though we lost we fought hard and played together as a unit, we just have to focus on Collegiate this week because we aren't going to lose this game."
The Cadets now turn their focus to the Collegiate, which opens up the game with a 4-1 record. The Cougars are looking to beat the Cadets and move to 2-1 in their region. Game time is 3:30 p.m. at Bobby Ross Stadium.
