Senior offensive lineman Cole Simon was named Athlete of the Week for the week of November 5. He is the leader of a strong, powerful offensive line that has propelled the Cadets to a 5-3 record and 1,653 total rushing yards. Being the center of the offense (both literally and figuratively), Simon is an important member of the Cadet offense. "Cole is a four-year starter, a state champ, a second-team all-state and honorable mention all-metro player," said Head Coach Greg Lilly. "He's been the anchor of the offensive line and the offense, and he's been one of our best linemen and one of our best leaders."
Simon has been a part of the varsity football team for each of his four years at Benedictine. “It means a lot because being recognized…as Athlete of the Week is a huge honor,” said Simon.
Outside of holding it down on the gridiron, Simon is a first lieutenant in Headquarters Company. He's been a member of the Model General Assembly for two years as well. At the end of the first quarter grading period he received the honor of second honors for his work in the classroom. Simon also acts in St. Gertude High School theatrical productions and sometimes participates in the spring play.
Simon and his fellow teammates look to take down the St. Chris Saints this Saturday, November 10, and to continue their route to another state championship.
